In this digital age it is often common to find work that is hybrid, meaning in and out of an office, or even fully remote. Those that are lucky enough to have those jobs have the convenience to work at home, coffee shops, libraries, and (for those in and around Orlando) Disney World.
Tourists that travel in droves to spend thousands at the parks will be busy filling their days with every ounce of Disney magic that they can squeeze out in their few days at the theme parks, while us locals with access to the parks through various annual passes will be enjoying the quieter Disney magic most visitors don't get to enjoy. We get the privledge of slowing down and just sitting for a while.
As someone who is lucky enough to get the benefits of remote work, I have been able to sit down and do my job while partaking in the free accomodations available to me at the Disney Parks. I have compiled a list of my favorite places to work remotely at the parks for others to get use out of as well.
- The Contemporary Resort: Known for its interesting design with Monorails zipping in and out of its Grand Canyon Concorse and conveiniently short walking path to the Magic Kingdom, the resort is a hidden gem for us looking for a quiet space with internet access. Head to the second floor hallways surrounding the ballrooms of the convention center and you will find empty counches and tables you can snag all to yourself to get some work done. When you're done working or ready for a well deserved break grab some food at one of the many restaraunts in the building or even head into the parks for a bit of fun.
- The Wilderness Lodge: Full of character and charm, Disney's Wilderness Lodge has the benfit of being a cozy spot for remote workers to enjoy. In the alcoves of the upper levels of the loby sit tables and chairs right next to fireplaces and stunning views of the lake just outside the massive lobby windows. Get the benefit of a day away from the office and into a warm, relaxed enviornment that will surely improve your production. Wind down from a hard days work by hopping on a boat and sailing accross the Seven Seas Lagoon.
- The Land Pavillion: Located in EPCOT, the Land Pavillion is home to rides, shows, restaurants, and a great seating area. You may need some headphones for this spot because on some days its known to get a bit crowded in this area, but the natural light spilling in reguvinates one from even the most maddening Teams message while still providing an air conditioned safe haven from the Florida heat. I reccomend listening to the Living with the Land music while getting your work done in this particular location.
- Typhoon Lagoon: While a water park may seem like a crazy place to get your work done, there are several quiet corners of this park that stay relatively quiet throughout the day and even sometimes completely untouched. My favorite of these quiet spaces is behind the submarine by Hammerhead Fred's bar. This space is shaded and full of chairs that are almost never full. A great spot for those of us that prefer to answer e-mails with the sun on our skin and a virgin pina colada in our hands.
- Animal Kingdom Lodge: One of the best views by far, the Sunset Overlook at the Animal Kingdom Lodge provides not just a quiet space to get to work, but also a spot to watch wildebeest, giraffes, and zebras graze. The ideal space for an animal lovers to relax and check things off their to-do list. Don't forget to grab some breakfast at Sanaa before getting settled in your makeshift office for the day.
